Principal Investigator: Dr. Greg Bell Purpose: To determine the accuracy of the Turf Nutrition Tool software for predicting the N response of a creeping bentgrass putting green throughout the 2008 growing season. Turf type: creeping bentgrass. The site was 100% sand with very little organic matter and a very poor CEC. Treatments -
Discussion: Because these fertilizer programs were only tested for a single growing season, scientific conclusions cannot be made. However, the performance of Contec DG fertilizer and the Turf Nutrition Tool appeared promising for this single season. Contec DG provided better than adequate putting green color and quality throughout a single season and compared favorably with the soluble summer fertilizer program more commonly used in the golf course industry. During a single season, the Turf Nutrition Tool was useful for identifying effective fertilizer programs using Contec DG and indicated potential for developing fertilizer programs that identify both N release and turfgrass response. |
