All you need to use this tool is a computer and Microsoft Excel 97 or higher versions (Excel 2002 or higher for best performance).

See below video training on the TNT.

3) Open the file. Please note the file has macros, which will not harm your computer, but you may get a warning "File xxxx, contains macros, macros may contain viruses...", select, "enable macros".

Note: If you open this file without a warning, and the buttons will not work, click here for solution.

4) Once the file opens, you will see a main menu screen. Use you mouse to select the button for "Greens" or "Fairways" applications.

5) When the main application window opens, you should see a screen like figure 2 (if you menu button did not work, click here for solutions)

6) If you have gotten this far, congratulations, you are ready to start using the TNT. It may be easiest at this point to watch the 10 minute video below, or download the Microsoft PowerPoint tutorial.

You can also download a TNT Training module (Microsoft PowerPoint) --->

If you are not into video or Microsoft PowerPoint training, a brief description of the tool follows:

7) Once you have opened the Greens or Fairways page, select the climatic region from the map (buttons or drop down)

8) Select your desired Nitrogen amount per week from the drop-down menu

9) Input your total Acres (U.S.) or Hectares (European version)

10) Now you can select a product in one of the application windows by selecting a product from the drop-drop menu (see figure 4) and then typing in the pounds (U.S. version) or grams (European version) of product. Immediately below the application amount cell, will be the nitrogen amount, which is calculated. Also, you will note that the graph will now show nitrogen release (thin green line) and typical turf response (green bars) for your selected product and rate of application. Simply repeat this action until you have an annualized program with your desired total nutrition.

Note also, when selecting colder climates on the TNT, the graph will display blue-shading which signifies colder times of the year when turf nutrition needs re minimal.

At the bottom of the TNT, you will see that total bags and cost of the product (U.S. only) will be displayed.

Please check this page often, as updates to these tools will include new features or new products added to the TNT. Also, we are very interested in comments or feedback on the TNT. Please post comments on our DG Forum on how the TNT has benefited your nutrition program, or suggestions for future modifications.

When complete, the TNT graph should look similar (depending on your desired nutrition program) to the graph below:
